The 5k Challenge will be a high-profile “torture” test of 5,000 rounds fired through a Springfield Armory XDm 9mm.  The 5k  Challenge is loosely based on the 2,000 round challenge from Todd over  at pistol-training.com.

Many people like to argue that handgun modifications decrease reliability and make them unfit for a personal  defense handgun.  The 5k Challenge plans to lay this myth  to rest.  I have chosen to modify the handgun with  a slide mounted red-dot sight and a ported barrel.
